The archeological site of Knossos is amongst the most important in the world representing one of humanity’s earliest and most advanced cultures. It was continuously inhabited for the following 9,000 years, and is considered the birthplace of European civilization. The site itself has an area in excess of 20,000 square metres. The finds from here can be seen at the Herakleion archaeological museum. Best of all, Knossos is only a few minutes by car from Dora’s Stone Houses.
